EventSpan API Version 1.0

The EventSpan API allows developers to create tools and applications to interact with EventSpan.com, the search, syndication, and social networking service. We've based the API on our proposed XML standard for web events. To use our API, you'll need a developer key. Developer keys are available to anyone with an EventSpan account.

As our application evolves, so will our API. Methods for searching and retrieving web event listings are immediately available. Uploading web events and other functionality are available only to our strategic partners at the moment, but we expect to make them fully available to anyone with an API key soon.

In order to prevent abuse, we limit use of the API to 1 call per second per developer key. Our API is available through XML-RPC web service calls.

Getting Started

• Sign up for an EventSpan user account, if you or your company don't have one.
• Request a developer API key by contacting us. We simply want to know how you plan to use the API.
• See the samples and documentation below to build your interface to the EventSpan API.

Embed event widgets

Each web event listing on EventSpan can be embedded elsewhere on the web by simply cutting and pasting an HTML code snippet. Click on the 'embed widget' link that accompanies each event listing to do so. You'll see that you can choose from four IAB-standard formats for advertising banners.
