In 2004, Akzo Nobel Base Chemicals launched a programme to harmonize all its chemicals plants on one MES platform - 13 plants located on 7 production sites in 4 European countries in total. The main objective was to: 

• Harmonize all plant information,
• Create a one-way-of-working on production accounting
• Engage better opportunities for plant performance benchmarking

From a business point of view, this program intended to clear a path to improve quality and overall business performance.
