The Herding Dogs: Building the Foundation is an 8 week dog training course taught live, weekly, using Webinar technology. It is for herding breed dogs that were bred for gathering, sorting and moving livestock. Puppies and dogs of any age may participate in this course.(It is not for breeds that were bred for guarding and protecting flocks and herds.)

The Purpose/Goal of the Herding Dogs: Building the Foundation Course : To teach you the building blocks of raising and
starting your herding puppy or dog to be your partner in livestock handling, whether on a farm or at herding competitions.

Course Info: The Herding Dogs: Building the Foundation Course will focus on providing you and your dog with the necessary tools for becoming partners both in your life and in your work with livestock. Raising your pup or dog to develop a strong and mutually respectful relationship through understanding the needs of your dog, as well as the basic obedience skills that will become the foundation for all your future training. Basic herding commands will be demonstrated, and you will learn how to prepare your dog for stock work using quiet leadership and positive reinforcement. This course teaches you and your dog basic skills which are important before you actually start your dog on stock, so dogs will not be introduced to livestock during this foundation course
This course is for owners or enthusiasts of herding breed dogs that were bred for gathering, sorting and moving livestock. Find out if herding is something you and your dog may enjoy.
