Proposed Web Event XML Schema
|
Background Webcast and webinar event listings are critical to announcing, sharing, syndicating and promoting web-based events. However, many marketers, producers, publicists, and publishers associated with webcasts and webinars are not optimally structuring, displaying or promoting this important information. As a result, both upcoming and archived web events are difficult to search for, let alone share and syndicate. Moreover, the lack of structure to web event listings often leads to poor design decisions and layout implementations, further limiting the potential success - in terms of attendance and on-demand viewing - of online events for useful purposes in the markeplace. What is tendered here is an XML schema for web event listings, proposed by Aperio Networks. As the developer of EventSpan.com (and publisher of Conferenncing News) Aperio Networks has offered this first draft proposal in the hopes of receiving feedback to continually improve that which will be used on our forthcoming search, syndication, and social networking site for webcasts and webinars. Such a standard will also be the basis of the API that EventSpan.com will offer developers. Thanks for your consideration of this web event listing schema. We encourage interested parties to view the XML schema documentation and then contact us for a demo. You'll be able to see the rationality and fullness of this proposed web event listing standard, manifested on the EventSpan.com site which is currently in preview mode and available to privately access and view. |
